Johnston, Bill

Johnston, Bill (1922-2007), was one of Australia’s great Test bowlers during the period from 1946 to 1950, when Australia was the reigning world cricket champion. He often bowled a few overs at medium pace before switching to leg-spinners. He played in 40 Test matches, taking 160 wickets, 75 of them against England. William Arras Johnston was born in Beeac, Victoria, Australia, on Feb. 26, 1922. He died on May 25, 2007.
