Kern, John Worth

Kern, John Worth (1849-1917), was the Democratic candidate for vice president of the United States in 1908. He and presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan lost to Republicans William Howard Taft and James S. Sherman. Kern was a U.S. senator from Indiana from 1911 to 1917. He served in the Indiana state Senate from 1893 to 1897. He was born on Dec. 20, 1849, in Alto, Indiana. He died on Aug. 17, 1917.
