Kymograph is a recording instrument that records variations of motion or fluid pressure, such as a person’s muscle twitches or pulse. A kymograph consists mainly of a rotating drum against which a stylus (writing instrument) presses. The stylus records information, usually by making a continuous wavy line on paper mounted on the drum. Recording instruments used in various fields of science are forms of kymographs.
