Lee, Doris Emrick (1905-1983), was an American artist. Her paintings portray the American scene in a lively, sometimes humorous, and always colorful manner. Her painting Thanksgiving Dinner won the Logan Medal at the 1935 annual exhibition of contemporary American painting at the Art Institute of Chicago. She painted a mural for the Post Office Department building in Washington, D.C.
Doris Lee was born on Feb. 1, 1905, in Aledo, Illinois. She studied at the Kansas City Art Institute, at the California School of Fine Arts, and in Paris. She died on June 16, 1983.
