Lilly Endowment is one of the largest private foundations in the United States. It makes charitable grants to support religion, education, and community development. The endowment was established in 1937 with gifts from members of the family that founded and directed the Eli Lilly and Company pharmaceutical firm. The foundation’s headquarters are in Indianapolis.
