Loam

Loam is a soil that is between sandy soil and clay soil in texture. Loams are chiefly mixtures of sand, clay, and silt. They are among the most valuable soils in agriculture and are easy to till. A typical loam soil feels smooth and is somewhat sticky. A piece of clay feels very smooth and sticky. Soil between loam and clay in texture is called a clay loam.
