Lough Neagh, << lok NAY, >> is the largest lake in the United Kingdom. It is in the interior lowlands of Northern Ireland, bordering five of the country’s six counties.
At its longest point, Lough Neagh is about 18 miles (29 kilometers) long, and its maximum width is about 15 miles (24 kilometers). It covers about 150 square miles (388 square kilometers).
The Upper Bann and the Blackwater are the largest rivers flowing into Lough Neagh. The Lower Bann drains the lake northward into the Atlantic Ocean.
Lough Neagh attracts many wild fowl, including the rare whooper swan. People fish in the lake for eels, salmon, and trout.
