Lukin, Dean

Lukin, Dean (1960-…), an Australian weightlifter, became a national sports hero when he won a gold medal for weightlifting in the super heavyweight division at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984. He won in the snatch at 172.5 kilograms (380 pounds) and in the clean and jerk at 240 kilograms (530 pounds), lifting a total of 412.5 kilograms (910 pounds). It was the first gold medal ever won by an Australian weightlifter. He also won gold medals in the Commonwealth Games at Brisbane in 1982 and at Edinburgh in 1986.

Dino Lukin was born on May 26, 1960, in Cabarita, Sydney. He lives in Port Arthur, where he operates a tuna catching business.
