Menninger, << MEHN ihng uhr, >> Clinic, a nonprofit organization in Houston, is one of the world’s leading psychiatric centers. The clinic treats mentally ill patients, trains psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, conducts research, and develops treatment and psychiatric health programs.
Three physicians—Charles F. Menninger and two of his sons, Karl and William—established the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, in 1925. The clinic operated in Topeka for 78 years before relocating to Houston. Since 2003, the clinic has been affiliated with the Baylor College of Medicine and the Methodist Hospital system in Houston. The Menninger Clinic provides treatment for adolescents and adults with severe psychiatric disorders. Psychiatric research and education are conducted in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine.
