Mimosa, << mih MOH suh or mih MOH zuh, >> is a group of trees, shrubs, and herbs that have featherlike leaves. Mimosas grow chiefly in warm or tropical regions. In the United States, they are found from Maryland to Florida and west to Texas. The seeds of mimosas grow in flat pods. The small flowers may be white, pink, lavender, or purple. The silver wattle, a shrub with silvery-gray leaves, is widely sold by florists as mimosa. It is closely related to mimosas. See also Sensitive plant .
