Moody Bible Institute, in Chicago, is an independent school that trains pastors, missionaries, and church-related workers. It offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees, continuing education, and a worldwide distance learning program. The institute operates Moody Radio (formerly the Moody Broadcasting Network) and Moody Publishers. The school’s men’s athletic teams are called the Archers and the women’s teams are called the Lady Archers.
Dwight Lyman Moody, an evangelist, founded the institute in 1886. He established it to educate men and women in spreading the message of the Bible to the poor and working classes.
