Morpheus, << MAWR fee uhs or MAWR fyoos >>, was a god of dreams in Greek mythology. He was one of the sons of Hypnos, the god of sleep. He took human form and appeared to people in their sleep. To be “in the arms of Morpheus” means to be asleep, and the drug morphine is named after him.
