Mutiny

Mutiny is any unlawful attempt by military personnel to seize or set aside military authority. The term often refers to an unlawful attempt by a crew to take command of a naval ship. United States military law defines two types of mutiny. One type involves the use of violence or creation of a disturbance by one or more persons acting individually. The second type of mutiny involves two or more people who jointly refuse to obey orders or perform military duties. This type of mutiny need not involve a disturbance. In the United States, the maximum punishment for mutiny is death.
