National Aeronautic Association, also called NAA, promotes the advancement of aviation and space flight in the United States. It is the U.S. representative to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI). As such, the NAA is the only U.S. organization that can approve and certify flight records by U.S. civilian and military aircraft. The NAA also sponsors U.S. teams in sport aviation championships.
The NAA annually presents four awards for achievements in flight. They are the Wright Brothers Trophy, the Collier Trophy, the Brewer Trophy, and the Mackay Trophy. The NAA was chartered in 1922. The organization’s full name is National Aeronautic Association of the U.S.A. Its headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
