National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) establishes athletic standards and official playing rules for college sports. It conducts national championships in three divisions in sports for men and women and keeps the official national statistics and records of selected college sports. It also conducts studies on issues in athletics and maintains a large film and video library covering play in championship events. The association sponsors a post-graduate scholarship program and a degree-completion program for student-athletes who have exhausted their intercollegiate athletics eligibility.
The NCAA was founded in 1906. The association’s membership today includes colleges and universities, athletic conferences, and coaches associations. The headquarters of the NCAA are in Indianapolis.
