National Recovery Administration (NRA)

National Recovery Administration (NRA) was a United States government agency in the early 1930’s. It was established in 1933 under the National Industrial Recovery Act as part of the New Deal program (see New Deal ). The NRA prepared and oversaw codes of fair competition for businesses and industries. Hugh S. Johnson was the first head of the NRA. President Franklin D. Roosevelt abolished the NRA in 1935, after the Supreme Court ruled the National Industrial Recovery Act unconstitutional.
