National Safety Council is a not-for-profit public service organization that works to increase safety and occupational health in the United States. The council’s members include individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, and civic, labor, and trade organizations.
The council promotes safe practices on and off the job and supports accident prevention laws and standards. It produces films, pamphlets, and other materials on preventing accidents and illness.
The National Safety Council was founded in 1913 and was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1953. Its headquarters are in Itasca, Illinois.
