Nelson, William Rockhill (1841-1915), founded and built the Kansas City (Missouri) Star, a crusading newspaper, in 1880. The Star campaigned against municipal corruption, and for civic reform and a rehabilitation program. This program gave Kansas City parks, broad boulevards, and an art gallery. Nelson was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
