Nēpia, George

Nēpia, George (1905-1986), was one of New Zealand’s greatest Rugby Union players. Nēpia was the first Māori to gain an international reputation in this sport. He played fullback for his country’s touring team, the All Blacks, in 1924, 1925, 1929, and 1930. He represented New Zealand in 46 international rugby matches. Nēpia was born on April 25, 1905, in Wairoa. He died on June 27, 1986.
