New Hampshire, University of

New Hampshire, University of, is a public system of higher education. The official name of the system is the University System of New Hampshire. The system includes the main campus of the University of New Hampshire in Durham, another campus in Manchester, Keene State College, Plymouth State University, and Granite State College, which offers degrees at centers throughout New Hampshire. The University of New Hampshire’s athletic teams are called the Wildcats.

The university was founded in 1866 as the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts. It became the University of New Hampshire in 1923.
