North Central States

North Central States are the 12 states in the north-central part of the United States. They include Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. They are also known as the Midwestern States.

The western North Central States, which are sometimes called the Great Plains States, contain some of the richest farming land in the world. Corn and wheat fields cover the plains. The states on the eastern edge of the region are sometimes called the Lake States. These states are known for their great industrial centers, in addition to their farms.
