Octagon is a plane figure with eight sides. It is a type of polygon. The sides of an octagon meet at points called vertices to form eight interior angles. The interior angles of an octagon always add up to 1080°. A type of octagon called a regular octagon has equal sides and equal angles. The area of a regular octagon equals one-half the product of the perimeter and the apothem, the distance from the center of a regular polygon to the midpoint of one of its sides.
