Oriole

Oriole, << AWR ee ohl, >> in the Americas, is a group of small songbirds. In Europe, the name oriole is given to a group of birds that are not related to American orioles. Most of the American orioles live in or near the tropics. In Jamaica, they are known as banana birds. Three common species (kinds) of orioles spend the summer in southern Canada and the United States—the Baltimore oriole, Bullock’s oriole, and the orchard oriole. Several other oriole species also live in the United States.

Orioles have beautifully colored feathers and loud, musical voices. They weave hanging nests, and help farmers by eating insects. But in some areas, these birds may eat grapes. Some orioles are also called troupials.
