Orr, Bobby

Orr, Bobby (1948-…), was one of the greatest defensemen in professional hockey history. He revolutionized the position with his graceful skating and extraordinary ability to carry the puck up the ice without weakening his team’s defense. Orr’s 139 points in the 1970-1971 season remains a record for National Hockey League (NHL) defensemen. Orr is still the only defenseman to have led the NHL in scoring, doing this in the 1969-1970 and 1974-1975 seasons. He won the Hart Memorial Trophy as Most Valuable Player in the NHL three seasons, from 1969-1970 through 1971-1972. He captured the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league’s best defenseman a record eight consecutive seasons, from 1967-1968 through 1974-1975.
