Owyhee Dam, << oh WY hee or oh WY ee, >> is one of the larger concrete arch gravity dams in the world. It forms a reservoir 52 miles (84 kilometers) long that stores water for irrigating about 16,000 acres (6,470 hectares) of land. The reservoir holds about 715,000 acre-feet (882 million cubic meters) of water. This dam was built by engineers of the United States Bureau of Reclamation. It was completed in 1932 at a cost of $6,671,000.
