Pamphlet is a short published work of topical interest through which the writer wishes to inform or persuade the public. A pamphlet is usually bound in paper covers. Pamphlets originally consisted of manuscripts bound in covers. The word pamphlet comes from Pamphilius, seu de Amore, a Latin poem published in this form in the 1100’s. Most early pamphlets discussed religious questions. Political issues formed the subject matter of pamphlets during the 1600’s and 1700’s.
