Prickly heat is a skin rash of tiny, red pimples that itch. It is also called heat rash. It may appear often when the weather is warm and moist. The rash occurs when sweat pores are blocked so that sweat cannot reach the surface of the skin. Prickly heat is common among infants. It is relieved by keeping the skin cool with cool compresses and mild dusting powders. The disorder is annoying but not harmful.
