Quart is a unit of volume and capacity for both dry and liquid substances in the inch-pound system of measurement. This system is used in the United States. The liquid quart equals 1/4 of a gallon and contains 57.750 cubic inches. It equals 0.946 liter in the metric system. The dry quart equals 1/32 of a bushel and contains 67.200 cubic inches. It equals 1.101 liters. Quarts are divided into two pints. The imperial quart was once used in Britain and such countries as Canada and New Zealand.
