Queen’s University

Queen’s University is an institution of higher learning in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Queen’s University was founded as Queen’s College, a Presbyterian religious institution, in 1841 by a royal charter issued by Queen Victoria. It is one of Canada’s oldest degree-granting institutions. In the 1880’s, Queen’s pioneered correspondence education in North America and launched a graduate studies program. In 1912, Queen’s College separated from the Presbyterian Church and officially changed its name to Queen’s University. Its athletic teams are called the Gaels.
