Quonset, << KWON siht, >> hut is a corrugated steel building made in the shape of a half cylinder. The flat side forms the floor. The building usually measures about 50 to 100 feet (15 to 30 meters) long and from 20 to 40 feet (6 to 12 meters) high. The first Quonset hut was constructed for the United States Navy in 1941 at Quonset Point, R.I.
