Rappahannock River

Rappahannock, << `rap` uh HAN uhk, >> River is a waterway in Virginia. Much of the fighting in the American Civil War (1861-1865), including the Battle of Fredericksburg, took place along this river. It rises in the Blue Ridge Mountains and flows southeast for 185 miles (298 kilometers) into Chesapeake Bay. The Rapidan River is its main branch.
