Raskin, Ellen (1928-1984), was an American author and illustrator. She won the 1979 Newbery Medal for her children’s novel The Westing Game (1978). This book is a mystery about 16 people who compete for a millionaire’s fortune by trying to solve a puzzle in his will. Raskin wrote and illustrated many other children’s books.
Raskin was born on March 13, 1928, in Milwaukee. She died on Aug. 8, 1984.
