Restigouche, << REHS tih `goosh,` >> River forms part of the boundary between Quebec and New Brunswick. It is about 125 miles (200 kilometers) long. The Restigouche ranks among the world’s most famous trout and salmon streams.
The Indian word Restigouche means the river which divides like a hand. The name refers to the five branches of the river, the Matapedia (meaning musical), Upsalquitch (blanket), Kedgwick (large), Patapedia (little), and Wagan (knife).
