Rockefeller, John Davison, III

Rockefeller, John Davison, III (1906-1978), served as chairman of the board of trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation from 1952 to 1971. Rockefeller founded the Population Council, a group that conducts research on population problems throughout the world. He also helped found the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City and later became its chairman.

Rockefeller was born in New York City on March 21, 1906, and died on July 10, 1978. He was the oldest son of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. See Rockefeller, John D., Jr. .
