Salt River

Salt River is a stream in east-central Arizona. It rises in the White Mountains and flows southwest for about 200 miles (320 kilometers). It empties into the Gila River southwest of Phoenix. The Salt River Valley is irrigated by four dams, which form a series of artificial lakes extending 60 miles (97 kilometers) along the Salt River. The river is used for irrigation, recreation, and power generation.
