Saracens

Saracens << SAR uh suhnz >> were Muslims from what are now Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Iran who invaded parts of the Christian world from the 600’s to the 1000’s. The Saracens included the people of Palestine and Syria, the Arab Moors who set up the Spanish kingdom in the 700’s, and the Seljuks who fought the Crusaders. The Greeks and Romans first used the term Saracen to describe the wandering Arab tribes of the Syro-Arabian Desert.
