Sedum, << SEE duhm, >> is a genus (group) of hardy, decorative plants. Most sedums are native to the North Temperate Zone. They are succulents–that is, they store water in their thick, fleshy leaves (see Succulent ). Some sedums have low, creeping stems with leaves that often grow in clusters near the ground. Landscapers often use these sedums to cover rocks and bare ground. Other sedums have tall stems and are used as border plants. Many people call sedums live-forevers because they do not wither easily. Sedums are sometimes called stonecrops.
