Silverfish is a small, wingless insect found in cool, dark, damp places. It is a common household pest. The silverfish is gray or silver. It has two long antennae and three thin, bristlelike tail parts. It reaches about 1/2 inch (13 millimeters) long. The silverfish feeds on such starchy materials as books, wallpaper, and clothing. It has no direct impact on human health.
