Social Workers, National Association of, is a professional organization devoted to the improvement of social work practices and standards. The organization works to promote the social work profession, advance the practice of social work, and shape public policy. The association was formed in 1955 by the merger of seven organizations. The association’s publications include The Encyclopedia of Social Work, four professional journals, a monthly newspaper, and many books dealing with the professional needs of its members. The association has its headquarters in Washington, D.C.
