Sweet alyssum, << uh LIHS uhm, >> is a low, spreading plant with clusters of tiny lavender or white flowers. It is an annual and lives for only one growing season. It can be planted in early spring and usually blooms within six weeks. Some varieties are cultivated as dwarfs, and others grow about 12 inches (30 centimeters) high.
