Syringa

Syringa, << suh RIHNG guh, >> is a name used for two kinds of plants not closely related. First, lilacs make up a genus (closely related group) called Syringa (see Lilac ). Second, syringa also refers to a group of shrubs known as mock oranges, especially Lewis’s mock orange. Lewis’s mock orange is the state flower of Idaho. It is a perennial shrub native to western North America. Lewis’s mock orange produces fragrant, showy white blossoms. It may grow to about 10 feet (3 meters) tall.
