Tallon, Don (1916-1984), an Australian cricketer, was one of the leading wicketkeepers in Test cricket in the late 1940’s and the 1950’s. From 1945 to 1953, he played in 21 Test matches. Some experts regard him as the best wicketkeeper of all time. In 1938, Tallon set a world record by dismissing 12 batsmen in one match while playing for Queensland against New South Wales. In the 1946 Test series in Australia, he dismissed 20 of the England batsmen. During his Test career, he caught 50 batsmen and stumped 8.
Donald Tallon was born on Feb. 17, 1916, in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. He died on Sept. 7, 1984.
