Theodore Roosevelt National Park is in western North Dakota. The park’s outstanding feature is a scenic badlands area along the Little Missouri River. In this area, water and wind erosion have carved deep gullies and steep hills into the landscape. The park includes a cattle ranch that President Theodore Roosevelt operated as a young man. A restored cabin where Roosevelt once lived is a popular tourist attraction. The area was established as a national memorial park in 1947 and became a national park in 1978.
