Treble

Treble, << TREHB uhl, >> is the upper, or highest, part in choral music of two or more parts. It is often called the soprano part, and is sung by women or boys. The treble part in instrumental music is played by such instruments as the violin, flute, clarinet, and oboe. It is also played on the higher keys of the piano or organ, roughly above middle C. Treble clef or G clef is the sign used to mark the five-line staff from which treble voices or instruments read.
