Triangle is a percussion instrument that consists of a steel bar bent in a triangular shape with one open corner. The player strikes the instrument with a short rod called a beater to produce a high sound with indefinite pitch. The quality of the tone can be varied by using metal beaters of different thicknesses or by using a wooden, rather than a metal, beater. A musician usually holds the triangle in one hand by a clip at the top and grasps the beater in the other hand. But the triangle can also be clipped to a stand and played with two beaters, one in each hand.
