Twine is a tough cord made of twisted strands of certain fibers. It may contain fibers from such plants as abacá, cotton, henequen, jute, or sisal. The fibers may also be plastic. Twine may consist of a single, tightly spun strand, or several spun strands twisted together. People use twine to tie such items as parcels and bales. See also Abacá ; Sisal .
