Ubar is a highly decorated drum used by some Aboriginal peoples in northern Australia. People make the drums from hollow logs and use them mainly in sacred ceremonies. Among some groups in the region, the ubar represents a female rainbow snake. In others, it represents a great rock python. Among Aboriginal people on Goulburn Island, it represents a fertility mother.
