Vassar College is a liberal arts college in Poughkeepsie, New York. It is privately controlled and offers courses in languages and literature, arts, physical sciences, and social sciences. Vassar was founded as a school for women in 1861. It was the first women’s college to have equipment and resources equal to those of men’s colleges. Vassar became coeducational in 1969.
