Walters, Douglas

Walters, Douglas (1945-…), an Australian cricketer, became one of the leading Test run-scorers in Australian history. In 74 Tests, he made 5,357 runs at an average of 48.26 per innings. He scored 15 Test centuries (100 runs in an innings) and took 49 Test wickets at an average of just over 29 runs per wicket.

Kevin Douglas Walters was born on Dec. 21, 1945, in Marshdale, New South Wales. He made his Test debut in 1965 and retired from competition in 1981. In 2022, Walters was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to cricket. The Order of Australia is Australia’s highest award for service to the country or to humanity.
