Warner, Seth

Warner, Seth (1743-1784), was an American soldier in the Revolutionary War. He is chiefly remembered for his role in forming and leading the famed regiment of Green Mountain Boys. His most important contribution to winning the war was his timely arrival to help reinforce the colonial troops at the Battle of Bennington on Aug. 16, 1777. His support of John Stark clinched a decisive victory for the American forces. In recognition of his services, Warner was appointed a brigadier general in 1778. He was born on May 6, 1743, in Roxbury, Connecticut. He died on Dec. 26, 1784. See also Green Mountain Boys .
